l'atelier dumont

I discovered this lovely restaurant on the inflight guide to Mauritius. The food looked amazing and I had heard some good reviews from friends so one night we decided to check it out since we were only staying 5min away.

L’atelier is located in Cybercity, an unlikely venue for a restaurant like this.  The restaurant has a huge kitchen open totally to the main dining room and the bar. The restaurant is modern and rustic at the same time, with its outside terrace and fountain, offering Mediterranean cuisine which is both elegant and fresh.

It was a weekday and the place was empty when we arrived but undeterred we started ordering. The bread was average, nothing particularly special but it was nice that it came warm.

For starters I decided on the coeur de palmiste with tomato which was again quite average. Other starters include mille-feuille of tomato and prawn with roast vegetables.

For main, I chose lamb which was cooked just how I like it. The whole grilled lobster was also good but not as fresh as we had hoped...

Still feeling a little peckish, I went for the full 3 courses and coffee. The 70% melting chocolate cake was as the name suggests, very chocolately and rich but the coffee finished the meal nicely.

The ambience at "l'Atelier Dumont" is peaceful, it's the perfect place for business lunches or a leisurely lunch during the day. At evening, it has a warm atmosphere ideal for spending evenings with friends.
